Duke filluar nga 1 janari 2026, PSC ka nisur zyrtarisht aktivitetin si anëtare me të drejta të plota në MED MoU (Mediterranean Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control).

Ky anëtarësim përfaqëson një arritje të rëndësishme institucionale dhe një angazhim të shtuar për forcimin e standardeve të sigurisë detare, mbrojtjen e mjedisit dhe zbatimin e konventave ndërkombëtare në fushën e Port State Control.

PSC do të vazhdojë të kontribuojë aktivisht në bashkëpunimin rajonal dhe ndërkombëtar, duke garantuar praktika profesionale dhe standarde të harmonizuara me vendet anëtare të MED MoU.

Albania Joins the Mediterranean MoU as a Full Member

The Secretariat of the Mediterranean Memorandum of Understanding on Port State Control (Med MoU) is pleased to announce the formal accession of the Republic of Albania as a full member. This significant step follows the successful completion of a comprehensive audit process and the subsequent unanimous acceptance by the Med MoU Committee.

An audit panel comprising experts from Jordan, Malta, and Tunisia, led by Mr. Rached BEN MOHAMED, conducted a thorough review of Albania’s maritime administration in May 2025. The audit identified areas for enhancement to ensure full alignment with the Memorandum’s stringent provisions. The Albanian authorities demonstrated a steadfast commitment to maritime safety and security by promptly implementing all necessary corrective actions.

Following a positive review of these measures, the Committee unanimously endorsed Albania’s membership and authorized the Secretariat to finalize the accession agreement before the end of December 2025. The formal acceptance document was duly signed on 18 December 2025 by H.E. Ms. Belinda Balluku, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy of Albania, on behalf of the Maritime Authority of Albania.

As a full member, Albania will actively participate in the regional port state control regime, contributing to the collective mission of eliminating substandard shipping in the Mediterranean region. This includes the exchange of inspection data through the Med MoU information system and participation in officer exchange programmes, reinforcing regional cooperation and harmonization of inspection procedures.
